Winning margin 'flattered' Notts

Rochdale boss Steve Eyre felt Notts County's 2-0 League One victory over his side on Saturday flattered the Magpies.

Lee Hughes opened the scoring in the 35th minute with his sixth goal of the season, but though County dominated before and after the goal, they did not get their deserved second until the 94th minute, when Sam Sodje headed home Alan Sheehan's free-kick That late second goal deflated Eyres, who felt the scoreline was not a true reflection of the game. He said: "1-0 wouldn't have been acceptable, but 2-0 is really hard to swallow. We set up well and you have to give Notts County credit for winning the game and keeping a clean sheet." The Spotland side sank into the relegation zone with this defeat, and Eyres added: "We are trying to be different, but it's getting monotonous. We're the wrong side of the fine margins and we're not pleased."
