Rochdale boss Steve Eyre was pleased to see his team's first clean sheet this season after a goalless draw with Carlisle.

The stalemate came after the Cumbrians followed up their 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day with a 3-2 Carling Cup victory over Chesterfield and a 2-2 draw against Huddersfield. Eyre said: "We drew against Huddersfield on Saturday and that was a great point for us, and on the balance of play we felt this one was a fair point. "We recognised the fact we could probably only score from distance as Carlisle pressed us high up the pitch and stopped us passing and linking our way up the field. They didn't allow us to get into their penalty area too often. "But after a superhuman effort from the lads over the 14 days or so, I felt we looked a little bit leggy, we were toiling at times, but in fairness to the players most of them have played 500 minutes for us over the last fortnight."
