Lillis keen on Dale stay

Josh Lillis is open to extending his loan at Rochdale until the end of the season, ahead of his potential return from injury.

The Scunthorpe goalkeeper was recalled to Glanford Park just over a fortnight ago to receive treatment on a hamstring injury but may be ready to make his Dale comeback in time to face Bournemouth on Saturday. Boss Keith Hill is waiting to hear from Iron counterpart Ian Baraclough but has extended the emergency loan of Luke Daniels just in case he is not given the green light in time. Nevertheless, with Lillis second choice at his parent club, the 23-year-old would be willing to stay beyond his current January agreement in a bid to get regular first-team football. "My first wish would be to do that at Scunthorpe, but if the chance to stay at Rochdale for the rest of the season was there, I would be happy to do so," he told the Rochdale Observer. "I have not really heard much yet about what is going to happen. Rochdale have a game against Bournemouth on Saturday and I hope I can be back to play in that."
