Woods keen on Dale keeper

Recently relegated Grimsby Town are hoping to strike a deal with Rochdale goalkeeper Kenny Arthur. The Mariners know they will be plying their trade in the Blue Square Premier next season and are keen to piece together a squad capable of bouncing back into the Football League at the first time of asking. Bolstering their keeping ranks has been identified as a priority, with the club set to be left short in that area. Manager Neil Woods has transfer listed Nick Colgan and released Leigh Overton, making the capture of fresh faces essential.

Target

Arthur has quickly been targeted, with the 31-year-old topping the Mariners' wish list. The former Partick Thistle and Accrington Stanley shot-stopper has been forced to fill back-up duties at Rochdale since joining the club last summer. Grimsby hope the offer of regular first-team football at Blundell Park will convince him that his future would be best served elsewhere. They are keen to have him on board in time for pre-season training, with their playing staff due back from their summer break at the end of June.
