Saints starlet back at Blundell Park

Southampton defender Ollie Lancashire has returned to Grimsby for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old joined the Mariners back in October on a two-month deal, and made 10 appearances during his first spell at the club. He was, however, summoned back to the South Coast by the Saints after Alan Pardew found himself short on defensive options. He made two cameo appearances in both of Southampton's FA Cup fixtures in January, against Luton and Ipswich, but failed to hold down a regular role. Lancashire has now been allowed to leave on a short-term basis once more, with his continued development dependent on finding first-team football. He will now see out the 2009/10 campaign with League Two strugglers Grimsby, who face an uphill battle to preserve their Football League status.
