Rochdale are looking to keep their star striker and are thought to have tabled an offer to extend his current contract.
Lambert is believed to have rejected the offer and is now considering his future at the League Two outfit.
The 24-year-old has no shortage of admirers after enjoying a successful season with Rochdale last term.
Lambert has been converted into a striker at Spotland after starting out as a midfielder and he netted an impressive 22 goals last season.
The former Stockport man finished as second top scorer in League Two last season and also led the way in assists.
His performances have caught the attention of several clubs with a number of Championship, League One and League Two sides believed to be keeping tabs on his situation.
Lambert has less than a year to run on his current contract and he could leave Rochdale on a free transfer next summer.
Rochdale would be loath to lose their most prized asset for nothing next summer and could reluctantly sell him before the close of the transfer window.
