Rochdale have signed former Cambridge United defender Warren Goodhind to a two-year deal.

The South African-born player arrives at Spotland following his release from The Abbey Stadium at the end of last season.

The former Barnet right back impressed Dale boss Steve Parkin in training last week and has earned a deal until the summer of 2007.

Goodhind was linked with a move to Leyton Orient, but after spending the summer in his native South Africa, the defender was delighted to continue his career with the North West outfit.

"To be honest, I'll be glad to get myself back in a routine after months of not really knowing what I was going to do," Goodhind told the club's official website.

"I just wanted to get back to training every day, playing football on Saturday and generally just back to a way of life I'm used to.

"I've had a couple of days up here and enjoyed myself immensely with the rest of the lads.

"Now, I just want to earn the right to play in the team."
