Price turns down Rovers deal

JASON PRICE will leave Tranmere Rovers at the end of the month after rejecting the offer of a new deal, while Graham Allen has done the opposite in agreeing on a new contract.

Price joined from Brentford on a free transfer towards the end of 2001 and has played in a number of positions for the club.

The Welshman's original deal was done before the collapse of ITV Digital and his latest offer was understandably a drop in wages.

The 26-year-old has decided against signing a new deal and is looking to get a better offer elsewhere.

Better news for the Prenton Park faithful comes in the form that defender Graham Allen has decided to remain with the club.

Allen's new deal will tie him to the club until June 2004 and comes as a major boost for Rovers boss Ray Mathias.

"We are very pleased Graham has agreed to sign a new contract as he was a key member of last season's squad," Mathias told the club's website.

"His decision to stay is a great boost for everyone as we look forward to the start of the new season, carrying on where we finished in May."
