Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson hopes his side have finally turned the corner after they battled their way to a 2-1 win at Notts County. Posh arrived at Meadow Lane having just taken five points from the last 36 on offer which had left Ferguson's position as manager under threat. But the Scot watched his side claim victory thanks to strikes from Marcus Maddison and Christian Burgess either side of Garry Thompson's equaliser for the hosts. "I thought my players were excellent. For the first 20-25 minutes we played really, really, well," he said. "They put us under a bit of pressure and got the goal back. But I said to the players at half-time it's about winning the scrap in the second half. "It was important that, once we'd done that, we had the composure to pass the ball and I thought we did that really well. "The run we've been on has been a psychological problem because you don't just become a bad bad player. "We've been losing games because we've been losing games, if that makes sense. "When it went to 1-1, a lot of people who have seen us would have perhaps thought 'oh they are going to get beaten again'. "But we dug it out and that's what I need from players. "It is about character, it's about having that determination to change things. "It was a good win and at least the walk with the dog tomorrow morning will be a lot more pleasant." For County and manager Shaun Derry it was a case of what might have been as they pushed for an equaliser late on but found keeper Scott Loach in fine form. "My mood is one of frustration, one of anger and one of disappointment in the manner in which we conceded the goals in particular," said Derry. "We never really imposed ourselves on the game or the opposition. We ended up giving the game away and that was disappointing. "We didn't do enough to warrant taking something from the game. "I didn't think Posh were way better than us, but the way they defended and put their bodies on the line at key times wins you points. "The second goal which we conceded probably highlights the fact that in the last few games we have given goals away too easily. "But the home form is a concern. Everybody pays to come and watch Notts County do well at Meadow Lane. "We need to transfer the away form into results at home and at the moment we are not doing that. We've been hard to beat away, but we now have to find a formula which works at Meadow Lane."
