Barnett signs for U's

Oxford United have signed Peterborough United striker Tyrone Barnett on a short-term loan.

The 28-year-old was set to sign permanently for the U's on deadline day only for the transfer to fall through but Michael Appleton was quick to borrow the former Crawley man on a 93-day deal. "Tyrone is a proven goalscorer at this level," Appleton told the club's official website. "He is a strong lad, has pace and is always going to cause defences problems. We are delighted that he is here and we are really looking forward to working with him." Barnett's arrival comes just hours after the club announced that fellow forward Will Hoskins would be sidelined until January. And Barnett looks set to be involved against Exeter on Saturday, the only side below them in the Football League.
