Ferguson eyes new signings

Darren Ferguson watched his Peterborough side defeat rivals MK Dons and then revealed he has made bids for four new players.

Ferguson saw super-sub Kyle Vassell climb off the bench to clinch maximum points with a late brace at London Road. Vassell was sent on with 17 minutes remaining and struck twice in the space of four minutes, converting a Jon Taylor cut-back after 81 minutes before beating Dons goalkeeper David Martin to an aerial duel and tapping into the empty net shortly afterwards. Kenny McEvoy had earlier hit the first goal of his career - with the aid of a big deflection - to fire Posh ahead in the final minute of the first half. That proved to be the Tottenham loanee's final contribution as a badly swollen foot forced him off and the game quickly changed as Dons starlet Dele Alli hauled the visitors level three minutes after the restart. Dons later set up as grandstand finale after substitute Daniel Powell reduced their arrears, but the men from Milton Keynes could not find another way through as Posh held on. A second successive league victory was not enough to stop Ferguson bidding to boost his squad. He said: "We've made bids for four players in the past week. I even told the chairman to reduce one bid as I felt he had offered too much! "We are trying to do business the right way and get the right players in - and we will almost certainly have something done on Monday. "It is important we add to the squad even though we have had two wins out of two games in the league. This one should have been more comfortable, but I'm just glad the substitution worked out. "Kyle is a great lad. I had told him before kick-off he would play a part and he ended up winning the game." Dons boss Karl Robinson was left disappointed by the standard of officiating after seeing a last-gasp penalty appeal for a challenge on Kyle McFadzean dismissed. He said: "The assistant referees were very, very poor - the worst I've seen. "They didn't take responsibility and didn't do their jobs correctly, and it is part of the game that needs to be looked at. "There was a rugby tackle on Kyle late on and yet we didn't get a penalty. "We have to take our hat off to Peterborough for beating us even though it is a game we should not have lost. "We have conceded three goals - one of which was deflected, one of which was sloppy and the other was down to a mistake. "The buck stops with me and I take responsibility for the defeat, but I'm not despondent by any means."
