Shaun Brisley: Set to be offered the opportunity to step up into the Championship

Sky Bet

Sky Sports understands that Championship side Peterborough are planning to make a move for Macclesfield defender Shaun Brisley.

With the transfer window having closed for business, the Posh will look to take the centre-half on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

They will ensure that any agreement includes the option for a permanent switch to be made in the summer, providing both parties with an opportunity to have a look at one another before committing to a full-time deal.

The 21-year-old is under contract at Moss Rose until 2013, but Macclesfield will not stand in the youngster's way if he chooses to step up the League ladder.

Brisley has been a key figure for the Silkmen since making his debut in 2008 and has been an ever-present for the club this term.

Peterborough are just one of a number of clubs to have been impressed by his ongoing development, and they feel he will help to reinforce a back four that has kept just two clean sheets this season.
