Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson admitted his side had thrown away two points by conceding late in the 1-1 draw with Burnley.
Posh looked to be heading for their first Championship win since Boxing Day when Paul Taylor pounced on a defensive error to open the scoring on 12 minutes.
But Jay Rodriguez snatched a draw with a fine run and stunning solo strike with three minutes left.
The draw does stop a run of four successive defeats in all competitions but Ferguson insisted Peterborough should have won it.
Careless
"We were in such control in the first half, but we were so careless in the last third. The game should have been over before half-time," Ferguson said.
"When you're on top, especially at this level, you need to take your chances, and we were really careless with the final ball.
"Defensively it was a really poor goal to concede - there's no way he should be scoring from there.
"I lost count of how many times we had spare men in and we tried shots and missed the target, so that was disappointing.
"Our game plan worked really, really well in the first half, but in the second half we just couldn't get out.
"It would have been a massive three points - any three points is big. But it stops the rot and it's as well as we've played for a while, and now we've got a nice easy game against West Ham!"
Penalty
After seeing Rodriguez rescue a point, Burnley assistant manager Jason Tindall claimed his side could have won it had a shout for a penalty been given.
Peterborough's Mark Little appeared to handle the ball in the box but the referee waved away the Burnley's claims.
"Yes, I felt it should have been a penalty. If you raise your arms in the18-yard-box then you're asking for trouble," Tindall said.
"At one point we thought we were just not going to score, with the chances we had and didn't take.
"But in the end Jay has come up with a bit of magic and scored a spectacular goal.
"We're pleased we got something from the game, as I believe it would have been tragic if we had come away with nothing.
"It wouldn't be right to blame the conditions - they were the same for both sides and we are professional enough to be able to adapt to them.
"We were making sloppy, sloppy mistakes that are out of character for us, and that's the main reason why we didn't perform in the first half."
