Peterborough defender Ryan Bennett has won his first call-up to the England Under-21 squad.
The highly-rated centre-half has been named in Stuart Pearce's squad for the forthcoming European Championship qualifying matches against Iceland (October 6) and Norway (October 11). Pearce watched Bennett during the victory over Burnley at London Road last weekend. The former Grimsby player will next week be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Danny Welbeck (Manchester United), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jack Rodwell (Everton) and one-time Posh loanee Danny Rose (Tottenham).
