Posh recall on cards for Ball

Rochdale's David Ball could be recalled early by parent club Peterborough in order to release fellow striker Nicky Ajose on loan.

Ball, who scored three goals in his first two appearances for Posh this season, was loaned out to Rochdale at the end of last month and has since struck three more for his new club. "I've let David Ball go out and get some football at a decent level and he's done very well," Posh boss Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. "It might be a case of David coming back and Nicky going out. I've got to consider the players and I've got to keep them up to scratch, maybe the month away will have done David some good." Ajose needs to rebuild his match fitness following a hamstring injury, with Bury and Scunthorpe reportedly interested in signing the former Manchester United trainee. Ball's loan spell at Rochdale is set to run until December 1. Meanwhile, former Scotland international Christian Dailly is training with Peterborough. The veteran defender, who last played for Portsmouth 12 months ago, featured in a reserve-team game against Ipswich on Tuesday. Ferguson remained coy on whether he plans to add the 37-year-old to his squad. He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I know him well from playing for Scotland with him, he is looking for somewhere to train. "I felt playing in the game would do him a favour but also us, because I felt a bit of experience alongside Josh Thompson might help him, that is all it is."
