Preston North End have rejected a £500,000 bid from Peterborough United for midfielder Paul Coutts.

Brown says Peterborough target wants to stay at Deepdale

Preston North End have rejected a £500,000 bid from Peterborough United for midfielder Paul Coutts. The 23-year-old left Peterborough for Preston 18 months ago, but is wanted back at London Road by his former manager Darren Ferguson. Posh have already seen one bid knocked back so far this summer and a second approach for Coutts has now been rejected. Lilywhites boss Phil Brown confirmed the bid had been turned down and revealed Coutts is happy to stay at Deepdale to help the club fight for promotion back to the Championship. "The chairman turned down a £500,000 cash offer from Peterborough," Brown told the Lancashire Evening Post. "It's public knowledge that Paul's former manager is interested. "Paul came to see me on Sunday saying he wants to stay here and get Peterborough out of the way because it's becoming a bit of a distraction. "That was music to my ears."
