Posh defender set to link up with Cobblers

Skysports.com understands that Kelvin Langmead is to join Northampton on a one-month loan deal. The defender is currently some way down the pecking order at Peterborough and is willing to take in a spell away from London Road. Numerous clubs have expressed an interest in taking him on a short-term deal. Wycombe are believed to have been among those to have made a move, but Langmead has snubbed a switch to the League One new boys. Instead, he is set to take in a stint with Northampton in League Two. The 26-year-old only joined Peterborough last summer and played his part in the club's successful promotion push out of the third tier. He is, however, keen to get games and, with his route blocked in the Championship, the former Shrewsbury and Preston man is prepared to take a step down to a lower level in order to get minutes under his belt.
