Town patiently await decisions

Yeovil are waiting to hear whether the seven players offered new contracts will decide to stay at Huish Park.

Chief executive Martyn Starnes has asked the fans to be patient as it could be next month before any contract news is revealed as the players and coaching staff are now on their summer breaks. Defenders Nathan Smith, Adam Virgo and Craig Alcock, midfielder Alex Russell and attackers Billy Gibson, Dean Bowditch and Andy Welsh are all out of contract this summer and have been offered new deals. "We are going to have to be patient. Some of the players are taking a break and I do not think things will pick up to any serious degree until June," Starnes told the Western Morning News. "The players have got until then really and I guess it will depend on what else is out there on offer for one or two of them. Hopefully they will all see the benefit of staying at Yeovil Town. They are first-team regulars and they are playing at a club that has great spirit and finished the season very strongly. "We think it would be a mistake for the players to jump to another club where they would be earning a bit more money but not be playing."
