Peterborough United have won the race to sign midfielder Grant McCann from Scunthorpe United on a three-year deal.
The Northern Ireland international was a target for a number of Championship clubs, but the 30-year-old has opted for a move to London Road.
McCann moves to Peterborough, who have been relegated from the second tier, for free as his Scunthorpe contract had expired.
Posh director of football Barry is pleased to have completed the transfer and acknowledges the work of recently-arrived manager Gary Johnson.
Fry told Peterborough's
official website: "From day one, the manager Gary Johnson identified Grant as a key signing and has spent several weeks talking to the player and persuading him to sign.
"He visited London Road last week and spoke to the manager about football, football and more football and it was a promising meeting. He then had a look around the city with our player liaison officer Joan Hill and visited some accommodation.
"The manager was keen to get the signing secured as soon as possible and we are all delighted that he has penned a three-year contract with Peterborough United. I have no doubt that if Gary was not the manager, he would not be here.
"We have to thank the chairman, Darragh MacAnthony, because he has backed the manager superbly in the transfer market and I am sure everybody will agree that Grant is a fantastic signing for this football club."
