Falkirk tie up Holden deal

Dean Holden has completed his move from Peterborough United to Falkirk.

Dean Holden has completed his move from Peterborough United to Falkirk.

Peterborough accepted an undisclosed bid for the defender over the weekend after Holden rejected an extension to his contract.

He agreed personal terms with Falkirk and passed a medical, with Posh director of football Barry Fry confirming the transfer.

"Dean Holden has agreed personal terms and completed his medical," Fry told the club's official website.

"I offered Dean a new contract several months ago. But he didn't sign - and after speaking to his agent, it was obvious he wanted to play at a higher level.

"We didn't want to stand in his way. He has been a good servant to this football club."

Falkirk boss John Hughes admits the capture of Holden ends a long pursuit of the former Bolton Wanderers stopper.

Hughes told his club's official website: "We have been tracking the player for some time and we are delighted to have concluded business with Peterborough United where I know he was very highly rated.

"He fits the bill as a player who is a real leader on and off the park and he comes to us at the peak of his career."
