Bristol Rovers boss John Ward praised Ellis Harrison after an exciting home debut in the club's 3-0 home win over Burton.
The 19-year-old's contribution included an assist for the Pirates' third goal scored by Eliot Richards in a comprehensive League Two victory.
Earlier strikes from Ryan Brunt and John-Joe O'Toole had put the result beyond doubt on an off-day for the visitors,
Ward said: "I see Ellis every day in training so I know what he can do. I had no fears at all about him handling playing in front of our fans.
"He is a very exciting player in the making and we have to look after him. But I'm pleased with the whole team because we have put a top three side to the sword.
"I was pleased with the clean sheet, but even happier with the three goals because we haven't always been reaping the rewards for our efforts in recent games.
"Good sides are now starting to treat us with respect, But I won't allow complacency to set in as there is a long way to go until the end of the season."
