Tranmere manager Les Parry was frustrated in his attempts to sign an experienced striker on transfer deadline day.
With Enoch Showunmi and Andy Robinson still out injured, Parry had hoped to strength his attacking options but he was unable to bring any of his three targets to Prenton Park. "The transfer deadline day was a frustrating day. We tried really hard to bring in an experienced striker," Parry told the club's official website. "We had hoped to bring in one of three targets. Unfortunately, finances were the determining factor with two of them and the third target became unavailable when his parent club sold another striker. "We would obviously have liked to strengthen but it is not the end of the world. We have already brought in Lateef Elford-Alliyu and Ryan Brunt to give us extra attacking options and we have added James Wallace in midfield. "The transfer window might be closed for Premier League clubs but we are able to bring in emergency loan signings from next week right up until the end of March so we will keep speaking to other clubs and assessing who is available." Meanwhile, Paul Rachubka's loan from Leeds was not extended, meaning Owain Fon Williams could return in goal at Wycombe on Saturday after two-and-a-half months out with a hand injury.
