Crewe are lining up two fresh additions to their squad, while Danny Woodards and Gary Roberts have been placed on the transfer list.
First-team coach Steve Holland has revealed that the League One club is 'very close' to securing two unnamed strikers.
The duo nearing switches to Gresty Road are believed to be Anthony Elding from Leeds and Tranmere's Calvin Zola - who has a work permit and international clearance pending.
Holland told the
Sentinel: "We're very close to signing two strikers, but I won't go into any more detail than that until they are sealed for certain.
"One is the main striker we have been after since day one and we are in a process there. The second one we are as close as we can get.

"Both would command transfer fees and we should have more concrete news in the next couple of days."
Meanwhile, Right-back Woodards and midfielder Roberts - who has 12 months left on his current contract - are set to leave the club after being transfer listed.
Crewe are keen to free up funds as Holland looks to rework his squad over the summer transfer window.
