Lescott pens Pirates deal

Bristol Rovers have confirmed that midfielder Aaron Lescott has signed a new deal.

Bristol Rovers have confirmed that midfielder Aaron Lescott has inked a new one-year deal at the Memorial Stadium.

The League Two outfit were keen to retain the 26-year-old's services for next season after he joined on a permanent deal from Stockport last summer and made 26 league appearances.

The former Aston Villa trainee has now committed himself to The Pirates for another year and as he confirmed the deal was done Lescott declared that the side were targeting an improvement on last season's 12th position.

"There was never any real doubt that I was going to sign a new contract and I'm pleased it has all been sorted out," Lescott told the club's official website.

"We have a very strong squad here, and although we were disappointed with our league placing last season we all feel we can improve on that this time around and that we can be challenging at the top of the league.

"The manager intends to bring in one or two new players before the season starts, to strengthen the squad, but there will not be as many changes as there were last summer, which will probably be a good thing."
