BRISTOL ROVERS boss Garry Thompson has admitted he is continually fielding enquiries for striker Nathan Ellington, but insists he is not for sale.

The forward has performed admirably in a difficult season for The Pirates, netting 15 goals, and his efforts have led to speculation that he could be set for a bigger stage.

Thompson is aware that while the forward continues to bang in the goals, the speculation will continue.

He said: "We've had phone calls from people checking on him and some have been fishing for an asking price, but we haven't got one because we don't want to sell him.

"There haven't been any bids and it seems that every time we have a striker at this club who is doing well, everyone immediately assumes he's off somewhere.

"Nathan's under contract with us and I want to keep him here as long as I can.

"But while he's scoring we know the speculation will go on, though it's unsettling for him when he needs to keep his feet on the ground."

Rovers have been languishing in the wrong half of the table for the majority of the season, but their form has improved of late and Thompson will want to keep hold of Ellington in the hope that he can fire them towards the play-off picture.
