Stockport boss Paul Simpson believes midfielder Anthony Pulis could prove a key player during his spell at Edgeley Park.
Pulis joined County from Southampton on a month's loan last week and made a goalscoring debut during Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Gillingham.
It was the first senior goal of Pulis' career and underlined his stomach for the fight with a strong challenge that earned him a booking.
Simpson said: "At least he's shown he's got a bit of spirit about him and he wants to do something about the situation that he's come into.
"We need to keep getting him right and he's going to need games to get up to match speed, but hopefully we'll be able to keep him in the side and get him to keep doing jobs.
"He's come into a really difficult situation and I just hope he's got the character to deal with it."
