Stockport registered their first win of the season against Bristol Rovers, while high-flying Peterborough lost their unbeaten record at home to Bury.
Peterborough would have moved into the top three with victory over the struggling Shakers, but they failed to carve open the Bury back line and ultimately slipped to a 1-0 defeat deep into stoppage time.
Andy Bishop grabbed the goal from the penalty spot, coolly sending Posh goalkeeper Mark Tyler the wrong way.
Stockport beat Bristol Rovers 2-1 at Edgeley Park, with Glenn Murray (pictured) celebrating the extension of his loan spell with a brace.
Murray struck on either side of half time (39 and 53) to give The Hatters a two-goal cushion, but a late Richard Walker goal for Rovers (83) ensured a nervous final few minutes.
The result lifts Stockport out of the relegation zone and up to 19th.
