Oxford United boss Graham Rix has expressed his interest in signing Dundee defender Lee Mair.

The 23-year-old, who is also attracting the interest of Stockport County, is a familiar player to the former Chelsea first team coach, having worked with Mair earlier in the season when he was coaching at Dens Park.

Stockport are thought to have made an attractive offer to the defender to move to Edgeley Park next term, as out-of-contract Mair has not responded to a new contract from Dundee boss Jim Duffy.

However, Rix seems keen to sign both Mair and Dark Blues team-mate Dave Mackay from the cash-strapped Scottish Premier League outfit, though The U's may have a battle in trying to lure Mair to The Kassam Stadium.

"I know both players and they're at the right age," said Rix.

"I'm in talks with my chairman (Firoz Kassam) and we'll see what happens."
