Shrewsbury defender Connor Goldson has signed a new two-year deal with the League Two club.

He was offered a new deal at the end of last season and, after some deliberation, he has agreed to extend his stay at the club, despite an offer from a Barclays Premier League club. Goldson came through the youth system at Shrewsbury and had a loan spell at Cheltenham during the middle of the 2013/14 season. The 21-year-old has made 66 appearances for Shrews, 39 of which came last season. The contract extension comes on the same day as the club signed experienced midfielder Liam Lawrence ahead of their return to the fourth tier next season.
