Turner hails Weale performance

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner saluted a breathtaking performance from goalkeeper Chris Weale after a 1-0 win over Walsall.

Weale, the former Leicester City number one, was in unbeatable form while at the other end a 25th-minute goal from Paul Parry sealed a third win of the season for relieved Shrewsbury. When he was finally beaten, the crossbar came to his rescue to keep out a header from Walsall skipper Andy Butler. Turner said: "There can be no disguising the fact that in many games this season we've played well and Chris Weale has been a virtual spectator in a lot of them with very few saves to make. "But this time it was totally different. We came under a lot of pressure and the goalkeeper displayed what we knew he could do. It was an outstanding performance from him and deserving of a clean sheet and the three points. "You sign good goalkeepers and you expect them to make saves and that's what he did. You look back at some of the great goalkeepers of big clubs and that's what they were there for."
