Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner blasted referee Tim Robinson after his penalty U-turn cost his side three points at Brentford.

The veteran manager went into the match official's dressing room after the goalless draw at Griffin Park in League One on Tuesday to demand an explanation for his 71st-minute decision.

The referee pointed to the spot after the ball cannoned off Tony Craig's hand above his head, but reversed the decision after talking to his assistant.

Three points would have been just reward for Turner's side following a spirited display which saw them pile the pressure on Brentford's nervy defence.

"In the circumstances, I do consider that two points dropped, but I just can't understand the referee's decision," he said. "The rules clearly state that if the ball strikes the hand in an unnatural position then it's a penalty, and you don't get much more unnatural than that."

Turner added: "I was very pleased with the passing and movement and with two back-to-back away games that's a good point on the board. It should have been three but what was said in the ref's room will remain between us."
