Grandison caught up in traffic

Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner claims Jermaine Grandison could not start Monday's win over Crawley due to congestion on the M6.

The defender was dropped to the bench and replaced by Shane Cansdell-Sherriff having not arrived at the Greenhous Meadow until 15 minutes before kick-off along with West Brom loanee Romaine Sawyers, who was not named in the squad. "I felt a little bit for Shane because he was thrust into it because Jermaine was stuck on the motorway," Turner told the club's official website. "Jermaine didn't get here until 7.30pm and we couldn't afford to take a chance and put him on the teamsheet in case he failed to make it. "I couldn't afford to wait for the two of them so I left Romaine off the bench." Grandison was introduced at half-time and Turner felt he performed well, especially when setting up fellow substitute Marvin Morgan for the winning goal. "We started to stretch them a bit and that culminated in Jermaine breaking up an attack and playing a great ball through to Marvin, who finished it off well," Turner added.
