Colchester have received a huge boost with the news Ashley Vincent has been given the green light to resume full training.

The winger has been sidelined since the second weekend of the season having damaged ligaments and muscle around his left knee in the 1-1 draw against Wycombe. Vincent has been involved in non-contact training for the past week, and after his latest visit to a specialist on Monday he has been cleared to step up his rehabilitation. Manager John Ward told the club's official website: "Ashley has been given the all-clear to join in full training with the rest of the squad. He has been involved in training with the squad over the last week or so but largely on a non-contact basis. "This is very positive news from the specialist and means he is now able to join in all the training we do with the squad, including the full contact sessions." Meanwhile, striker Steven Gillespie is making good progress in his recovery from the tight hamstring which ruled him out of Saturday's 1-0 win over Walsall.
