Shrewsbury reserves featured Sheffield United trialists James Ashmore and Ryan Gyaki in the side as they lost 1-0 to Port Vale.

Town boss Gary Peters also gave a number of first team players a run out in the game including Sagi Burton, Danny Hall, Chris Mackenzie, Chris Humphrey and Steve Leslie.

"We lost 1-0 but a few of the senior players got a game under their belt to keep their match fitness up for the run in to the end of the season," Peters told the club's website.

"It was a useful exercise as everyone got a game under their belt on the Monday which means they are available for the Saturday.

"We've got another reserve game on Wednesday but we will just be using the kids and some trialists in that.

"It's about getting the senior lads games but at this stage of the season it's also about looking at players for next year. We had the two lads from Sheffield to have a look at and we'll keep looking at people between now and the end of the season."
