Shrewsbury Town have handed new contracts to both Dave Edwards and Joe Hart.

Shrews boss Gary Peters is busy undertaking a major overhaul of his squad for next season, and has decided the two youngsters have done enough to earn new deals at Gay Meadow.

Both youngsters penned their first professional contracts last season, and Edwards has been rejuvenated this season after Peters took over.

Goalkeeper Hart only made his Football League debut against Oxford a month ago but has staked a claim to keep his position in goal for next season.

Peters says that his two youngsters have fully deserved the chance to extend their careers at Shrewsbury.

"It's good news that Joe and Dave have agreed to sign new contracts with the club," Peters told the club website.

"Both Dave and Joe have done really well for me this season and the new contracts are recognition of this."
