MK Dons boss Karl Robinson felt his side's 6-0 victory over 10-man Colchester was the "perfect" performance.

The hosts were 3-0 up by half-time thanks to a Dele Alli strike and Benik Afobe's double. On-loan Arsenal striker Afobe completed his hat-trick after the break while Ben Reeves also scored a penalty - following Will Packwood's red card - with Lee Hodson's goal in injury time the icing on the cake for the Dons. "It just keeps getting better and better for me, it was the perfect day and you don't always get them," said Robinson. "We dominated the game, the fans stuck with us and that's what you get. I thought all of the players were sensational, every single one of them. "Obviously Benik will get the headlines and I understand that, but for Dele to get to eight goals so far this season is terrific. They all deserve the credit. "I think Benik was fresh, and that's because he's not playing all the time - it's about managing the group. "We believed that we could score goals but we also believed that they were going to come here and match us. "We have to keep our feet firmly on the ground, but we can get excited because it's the best group we've ever had. "We need to kick on from here, but everything is bright in the garden of MK Dons at the moment." Alli produced a stunning opener for the Dons after 11minutes, leaving goalkeeper Sam Walker with no chance by firing a shot into the bottom corner of the net from 25 yards. Walker was beaten again after 37 minutes, with Afobe running onto a neat Reeves pass to coolly chip home. Afobe then headed in from close range just before the break before bagging his 18th goal of the season on the hour mark with a neat left-foot finish. Reeves then slotted home from the penalty spot after 67 minutes after Packwood was sent off on his Colchester debut for bringing down Afobe in the area, before Hodson's curling right-foot shot late on confirmed a comfortable victory. "I can only apologise to the travelling fans who have come up here, we haven't given them anything," said Colchester boss Tony Humes. "We've totally been outfought and outclassed, so I expect them to come in to training on Monday and work their socks off so they can get back in the team for next Sunday. "I expect more than that. I expect more than that in terms of being together and working hard. "We worked all week on trying to stop them playing and they didn't do that. "We didn't have any quality on the ball when we got it, we just kept on giving the ball away and the more you do that the more you're going to put yourself under pressure. "Milton Keynes are a good side and they thoroughly deserved to the win. "In every department we were weaker than them, whether it was physically or tactically."
