Robins relishing Wimbledon tie

Karl Robinson is relishing MK Dons' Capital One Cup meeting with AFC Wimbledon despite the hype which will surround the game.

Robinson's side have landed a home tie against the League Two Dons, the club formed in the wake of the original Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes a decade ago. The teams have met once before, with the League One outfit coming out on top in an FA Cup second-round clash in 2012. The bad blood remains, however, with AFC Wimbledon reacting to the draw by stating on their website that "this is a fixture we have played before and while we approach it with no more appetite than the previous game, the club will, of course, fulfil the fixture in a professional way". But Robinson is concentrating on matters on the pitch and is hoping for the same outcome as their previous meeting. "I understand what it means to both sets of fans and I'm looking forward to the tie," he told his club's website. "I know there will be hype around the game, but we'll be treating it as any other and, of course, we'll be looking to progress. "The way both clubs conducted themselves two years ago was commendable to my knowledge and I hope it will be the same again this time around."
