Tangerines to land Scottish defender

Blackpool are closing in on the signing of Scotland international defender Kirk Broadfoot. The 28-year-old departed Rangers last week, so as a free agent did not need to be signed before Friday's transfer deadline. The Seasiders held talks last week and are now set to finalise his signing. Club secretary Matt Williams told the Blackpool Gazette: "There was no rush to beat the transfer deadline with Kirk as he is a free agent. "We spoke to him last week and everything was agreed, so it was just a case of actually getting him to Blackpool for a medical." Ian Holloway added: "We are hoping to have Broadfoot with us shortly and maybe another, someone who hasn't been mentioned as yet but a player I'm keen to get in and work on. We'll see if we can get that deal done early this week." It is believed Blackpool are lining up a deal for Southend winger Ryan Hall - having failed to finalise his move before the window. He could now join on loan with the deal becoming permanent in January. "Ryan isn't mentally tuned in to playing for Southend United at this moment in time as he has other things on his mind," said Southend boss Paul Sturrock. "At the end of the day he is a signed registered player and although things have not worked out for him I know he wants to play football, so I will see what he says and go from there."
