Turner happy as Shrews shine

Graham Turner heaped praise on Shrewsbury after a James Collins goal saw off Barnet 2-1 to leave Town just two points off the summit.

Clovis Kamdjo's own goal handed the Shrews the lead on the stroke of half-time only for Izale McLeod to level matters with his 21st goal of the season. But Turner's men responded like potential champions and top scorer Collins steered home in the 74th minute - much to the delight of his boss. "It was a terrific result and a terrific performance," Turner said. "We deserved it on the balance of play and the way we kept the ball. We controlled the play though Barnet did cause us one or two problems, but we handled the situation well and attacked with purpose going forward. "The only thing I'm disappointed with is the timing when we conceded, but they redeemed themselves eventually. "James Collins looks very dangerous. He got the goal but as he develops I think he just needs to work on when to pass and when to shoot. There were times he elected to shoot when he should have passed. You can't blame a goalscorer for that but the decision-making will come. "There were wins for those around us so it is all getting tight now."
