Oxford chairman Kelvin Thomas wants the Football Association and the Football League to review their legislation after his club was charged.
The Us were told they failed "to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour" during their 3-0 win against Bristol Rovers on October 8. The charge related to a minor scuffle between players from both sides following a tackle by Oxford's Rob Hall on Pirates midfielder Stuart Campbell, and left Thomas despairing of the current directives - branding them "too harsh". In a statement on the club's official website, Thomas said: "We will be making representation to the FA and the Football League as we feel that the current legislation is too harsh for this type of matter. "What happened against Bristol Rovers should not really constitute failure to control our players or mass confrontation. "We understand the tackle was not good but felt that it was dealt with at the time by the referee with the booking, and the matter should probably have stopped there."
