German giants leading chase for striker's signature

Bayern Munich are reportedly closing in on a move for Tranmere youngster Dale Jennings. The 18-year-old prodigy burst on to the scene with Rovers last season, rising quickly through the youth team and reserves to score six goals in 29 games for the senior squad. So fast has the youngster's rise been, reports suggest that there have been offers for the player at a figure of around £500,000, but Tranmere have rebuffed all attempts to secure his signature so far. Dozens of scouts have flocked to Prenton Park to watch the player during the season, who began his development at Liverpool, but a dip in form in the latter part of the campaign saw interest wane. Bayern have maintained serious interest in the player, and with just one year left to run on Jennings' contract, Rovers may be tempted to cash in. Sascha Empascher, a representative of the Bundesliga giants, told Munich-based newspaper tz: "Bayern Munich are interested in Dale Jennings. "There is nothing more to say on that."
