Attacker reunited with coach Branko Culina

Australian side the Newcastle Jets have completed the signing of striker Michael Bridges until the end of the A-League season. The 31-year-old former Leeds United and Sydney FC forward has been training with the Jets for the last week and will link up with former Sydney coach Branko Culina. Bridges was a free agent following a short spell with League One side MK Dons in August, and could play a part in Monday's game against Adelaide. "I was excited when I got the phone call to come out here because I was on my way to Portugal, and I actually did a U-turn to go home and pack a few more clothes to get out here," he said. "Obviously to team up again with Branko was one of the main issues as well as to get over here with the Jets. "To be in the Australian A-League again, I still felt like I could offer something and get up and running again." Bridges was tipped for a lengthy career at the top after he rose to prominence in the successful Leeds team at the turn of the century, but a number of serious injuries have severely hampered his progress through his career. With the Jets having lost their last three league matches, he has warned the fans not to expect miracles. "It's a team game, it's not as if one man can save a club," he added. "I'm going to bring something different to that team and hopefully we can get something on the end of it, some end product."
