Milton Keynes Dons fear top scorer Izale McLeod could miss the rest of the club's push for promotion.

McLeod is struggling with a knee injury and has already sat out the last two games against Shrewsbury Town and Darlington.

The striker has been scratched from Martin Allen's plans for Saturday's clash with Stockport County and is doubtful for the remainder of the campaign.

Allen admits that, at present, the League Two club are unsure about how long McLeod, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions this term, will be sidelined.

"Izale has no chance of playing this Saturday and we don't know how long he's going to be out," Allen told the Milton Keynes Citizen.

"It doesn't look good at the moment, but we hope he'll play again this season.

"Damien Doyle (club physio) is working hard on him to build up the areas around the injury."

MK Dons look likely to contest the play-offs at the end of the season, with the club six points adrift of third-placed Swindon Town with three games to go.
