Dons too strong for Macc

MK Dons kept on course for promotion from League Two with a 3-0 win over Macclesfield.

Milton Keynes Dons kept on course for promotion from League Two with a 3-0 win over Macclesfield that puts them level on points with Swindon, who keep third place courtesy of a stronger goal difference.

Martin Allen's Dons side were handed the perfect start in just the second minute when the highly rated Izale McLeod breached Macclesfield's backline.

The scoreline stayed the same until half-time but just two minutes after the break and Macc were caught cold again, when McLeod's strike partner Clive Platt doubled his side's advantage.

With the home side in the ascendancy Paul Ince's Town struggled to rally themselves and in the 79th minute, their woes were compounded when Tommy Lee put through his own goal.

Macclesfield stay in 20th position, two points from the drop zone, while MK Dons move up to fourth.
