Izale McLeod has committed his future to Milton Keynes Dons by signing a two-year contract.

The young striker proved to be a revelation for the League One side last season after joining the club on a free transfer from Derby County.

McLeod scored 16 goals in the division as MK Dons avoided relegation and he had been linked with a move to Aston Villa.

MK Dons boss Danny Wilson has been keen to secure McLeod's future and has persuaded the hot shot to stay at The National Hockey Stadium.

"It's good to get this sorted and it's nice to know the club value what I did for them last season," McLeod told the club's official website.

"Danny Wilson has been brilliant for me and I'm looking forward to the future at MK Dons.

"There was talk of other clubs being interested, but I was never thinking about leaving and I think we have a really good chance of doing something next season."

Meanwhile, former MK Dons boss Stuart Murdoch has been appointed the new goalkeeping coach of League One rivals Bournemouth.
