Cooper: Two points lost

Swindon boss Mark Cooper bemoaned two points lost against Yeovil despite playing the final stages of their 1-1 draw with 10-men.

Former Yeovil man Andy Williams came off the bench to haunt his old club by cancelling out James Hayter's first-half strike. The former Doncaster striker broke in behind the Swindon back line to exchange passes with Jordy Hiwula before placing the opener past Wes Foderingham in the 34th minute. Williams was introduced at half time and was picked out by Jack Stephens, who had charged forward, before curling into the far corner with 19 minutes remaining. The visitors were reduced to 10 men with 12 minutes to go when club captain Nathan Thompson was shown a second yellow card for lying on the ball. Reflecting on the match, Cooper said: "In the first half we weren't fluent like we usually are and that's full credit to Yeovil. "They have obviously watched us and they pressed us all over the pitch and we weren't good enough to cope with it. "In the second half, I thought we were outstanding. We dominated the game and could have won it even with 10 men and we I'm frustrated we haven't won. "We have to try and be better than that, but the equalising goal is what we are all about. It was great movement and a wonderful finish from Andy Williams and it gave us a real momentum. "I think without the sending off we would have won and I see it as two points dropped. "On the sending off, I thought it was a push on Nathan, there's contact there which means it was a foul, but we were flabbergasted with some of the decisions." Glovers gaffer Gary Johnson made eight changes to the team which lost 4-1 away to Port Vale last time out and he was delighted with his side's reaction. He said: "We made the changes early in the week so we all knew what we were doing to a certain extent and we certainly got what we were looking for. "We got a first half of competitiveness and a will to win. "We decided we would shut their keeper down because sometimes he is their best outfield player in terms of passing. "I am proud of the lads because the turnaround from Saturday to here was magnificent and they certainly gave it their all, but of course we are disappointed in drawing at home after being one up "I have got a good staff around me with Terry Skiverton and Darren Way and when one of us is a bad cop we are all bad cops, so we have all been bad this week and we needed to do that to see who can handle it and who can't."
