Cooper looking to the future

Swindon manager Mark Cooper is already thinking about a promotion push for next season following their 1-0 win over Bradford.

Cox's 64th-minute effort ensures the fight for the play-offs will go down to the wire, but the Robins are still four points behind sixth-placed Peterborough with just two games left. The former Inverness midfielder was about to be substituted before he clinically finished right-footed from just inside the box to break the resistance of a side who had not conceded in their previous three away games. After seeing his side pick up their sixth win in seven matches, Cooper conceded promotion talk will have to wait until next term. He said: "The last few weeks the players have been outstanding. "They've adapted to the system, played some really good football and got some good results against big-name teams. "The run stands us in good stead for next year. We have got the nucleus of a good young footballing squad for next year and, if we keep it together and add a few players to it, I am sure we will be fine. "I thought we totally dominated from start to finish. From kick-off they got everyone behind the ball so you know what type of afternoon it will be. "It was important to stay patient and then we had to take our chance when it came." The Bantams almost took the lead through a Gary Jones free-kick on 13 minutes but Wes Foderingham got down well to make a smart save. The home side were pushing for the opener and thought they had scored on 55 minutes but Jon McLaughlin somehow kept out a Michael Smith effort before the resulting goalmouth scramble was put behind for a corner. After Cox had finally beaten McLaughlin Alex Pritchard, playing his last home game for the club, was denied by a fine save from the keeper to prevent Swindon increasing their lead.
