Carlisle boss Greg Abbott has thanked Swindon counterpart Mark Cooper after signing Troy Archibald-Henville on loan.

Robins boss Mark Cooper lent the former Exeter defender to the struggling Cumbrians on Friday and, after Archibald-Henville made an impressive debut, Abbott explained why he believed the Swindon boss had helped him out. "I have to commend Mark Cooper," he told the Swindon Advertiser. "I think he looked after us because we looked after Darlington when they were in a mess. "We went over and didn't take any money out of a pre-season friendly there. I think Coops remembered that. Without him the deal wouldn't have happened. "I'm not sure Troy was over-keen at first because he wants to get in Swindon's team. But Coops said it would be good for him. And since we met him he has been great. "He couldn't have had any tougher opponents than Brentford's strikers, but he was magnificent. He will be better for the game, will train hard this week and hopefully kick on."
