Former Republic of Ireland assistant Kevin MacDonald is relishing the challenge after being confirmed as Swindon's new manager.

The 52-year-old, who previously held caretaker manager roles at Leicester and Aston Villa, has been handed the reigns at the County Ground after Paolo Di Canio resigned last week. McDonald travels to Coventry on Saturday with his inherited Swindon squad lying fourth in the League One, just three points behind leaders Doncaster. "I am proud to become manager of Swindon Town and delighted that Jed McCrory and his new board at Swindon have shown such faith in me," MacDonald told the club's official website. "I cannot wait to get cracking with the job in hand."
