Defender believes Muamba's recovery will galvanise Bolton

Bolton defender Sam Ricketts believes Fabrice Muamba's release from hospital after his cardiac arrest will inspire the Trotters to turn around their recent poor form. Wanderers sit in the relegation zone ahead of Saturday's home clash with Swansea City after back-to-back defeats. The Lancashire club returned from a training break to Dubai to the news of Muamba's continued improvement and Ricketts feels this will help his side in the final games of the season. "It was good for the ones who had been particularly affected by what happened with Fabrice to get away and unwind a bit," he said "More than that, how he is doing with his recovery is the best medicine anyone could give us at this point in time."

Staying up

It could be all change at the Reebok Stadium next season with relegation still a real possibility and around a dozen players due to be out of contract. Ricketts, who has a year left to run on his deal, is hoping he can continue his top-flight career with Wanderers. He added: "I want to play in the Premier League and the best way of doing that is by us staying up. "I'll be trying even harder to ensure the club stays up and then, hopefully, they will take care of me at the same time."
